The Week of 10/29-11/2

• Mon 10/29:  Turn in signed Field Trip Form if not already.  Prepare field trip equipment kits and divide data collection tasks among your group members.  Review Field Guides.
• Wed 10/31:  Arrive to class as close to 9:45 am as you can!  Make sure that you have sturdy shoes and raingear.   Bring a sack lunch.  Take school bus to Whitaker Ponds, stay there and eat lunch until 1:00 pm.  Take the bus back to return about 1:30 pm.  Bring equipment back to room and clean up.
• Fri 11/2:   Enter data from field trip in class data base.  Analyze data from the field trip.  Population ecology.  Hand out Ecology Review.  Ecology Test next Thursday 11/8.

The Weeks of 10/15-10/26

Tues 10/16:  Guest teacher Ms. Dumas!  What is ecology?  Brainstorm biotic and abiotic factors.  Personal food webs.  Introduction to Whitaker Ponds.
Wed 10/17:  Short Periods.  Trophic Levels.  Hand out Field Trip Form.  Please get signed by Monday 10/29.
Fri 10/19:  Overview of communities and ecosystems.  Climate Change Activity.  See Report Link on this website.
Mon 10/22:  Finish Climate Change Activity.  What are the consequences?  The Precautionary Principle?  How is Ozone Depletion different from Greenhouse Effect?  Turn in Climate Change Packet.
Wed 10/24:  Practice Labs for Field Trip.  Water testing.  Weather activity.  Identifying plants and critters. 
Fri 10/26:  Using a Quadrat.  Soil Tests.  Remember to get your field trip form signed by Monday.

Whitaker Ponds Field Trip on Wednesday, October 31st from 9:45-1:45.

The Week of 10/8-10/11

Remember that there is no school on Friday, so I will see you for full blocks on Tuesday and Thursday this week!  Continue working on your Seed Germination Lab.  The new due date is Friday, October 19th.

• Tues 10/9:  Review for Plant Test.  Review parts of an IB Lab for Seed Germination Lab.  Plant Review may be turned in before the test on Thursday for points. 
• Thurs 10/11:  Turn in Plant Review if you did it.  Take Plant Test.  Ecology preassessment.
